Amy Winehouse was found dead in her home just before four this afternoon. Of course, it is well known that she had major problems with drugs and alcohol; however, her cause of death is yet to be determined.
She was talented. It's a shame some celebrities just can't seem to pull themselves together no matter how many times they go through rehab.
By the way, my brother pointed out something interesting to me. Amy was 27. Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and Kurt Cobain all died at this age.
I agree with all that has been said. it's a shame she died so young, but I'm confident her music will be loved for years to come. I, for one, have been a huge fan of her and will continue to be.
@Becky, funny you should mention other celebs who died at this age; someone pointed out that very thing on twitter earlier. interesting, indeed.
I was never a particular fan of Amy but I know she was talented. Me, and I know this is harsh, but given her behavior I'm waiting to see if soon we get the same news regarding---cough cough---Lindsay Lohan. There's one young lady that were I an actor or director I would refuse point blank to work with. I know both Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholsen in particular have said in the past that they won't work with her.
and kids and teenagers look up to these people? Madness!
LOL Brian. I would agree with you about Lindsay Lohan except for one fact. I don't think she'll ever drink enough or take enough drugs to kill herself because she's too much of an attention whore. She wants to appear in the gossip colemns on a daily basis. There are certain celebrities who live just to see their names in print.
I am a big fan of Amy Winehouse's music, and I agree that it's a very sad coincidence that all of those very talented musicians died at 27 years old.
I'll bet the one most devistated by this is her drug dealer. Maybe God just needed a concert canceled that day. I have no sympathy for her, since she made her own choices and so she faced the consiquences of those choices. I feel more sorry for the people in Norway, who died because of actions taken by some stupid asshole.
I don't ever rejoice a death, and this one is no exception. it's a damn shame, if you ask me. However, I have to agree with Fuster cluck that she made her bed and now must sleep in it, and it is really sad that one totally avoidable death got more attention than 80 or so deaths that had nothing to do with the victims.
It is a shame, she was too destructive for her own good, yet, she could have been so much more, sadly, however, some people simply can't be saved, and amy was one of them.
There is a long long list of talented people that destroy themselves, so she's just on that list and she'll not be the last. Better management maybe could help, but I doubt it. When you are the top people allow you anything, and killing yourself is one of them.
And she did try rehab, but it didn't work. She even wrote a song about not wanting rehab. Just look at Charlie Sheen. He is destroying his health and his reputation, but nobody can stop him.
Definitely a tragedy.
She was a talented and emotional manic depressive woman and she will be missed by her fans. I hope that the powers that be will put together the unreleased album. She is very similar to Janis Joplin.
Celebs are hypocrites. They call for drugs to be legalised so they can legally take them, then when somebody dies after years of taking drugs, they say it's a tragidy. They probably only tweet about it to please their fans anyway.
I don't feel sorry for Amy Winehouse; I feel sorry for the good people who are rejected from the music industry because they don't take drugs or behave like sluts. the music industry made Amy Winehouse famous because it can profit from more than her music.
